Gung Ho for 4th place now both Mancs are distracted
With the Manchester clubs focused on Cup Semi-finals - Bilic and the team should give EVERYTHING to get into 4th position. Its there for the taking

For starters I think we'll get 3 points from Leicester this weekend...

It is and somewhat frustratingly 7th If Man U were to win FA Cup and stay near where they are.

If things were to finish as they are, nothing would change if Liverpool won the Europa League. (England would have 8 spots total as Liverpool - 5 CL 3 EL) If they got into the Europa League places and won it then a EL place would be taken away. - 5 CL/2 EL and those 2 would be the domestic cup places.

Almost positive.

Ignoring the permutations of Liverpool winning the Europa league,
I thought 6th place in the league was good enough for Europa League, if Man City finish in the top 5, as they won the league cup?

Could be right mate. The complexities of it does my head in to be honest

A bridge too far methinks this year.

Well Man City will be playing Real Madrid in the semi's, so they'll be back concentrating on the league fairly soon!!

OM - Well said. Not to mention it's a squad game these days and players can be rested and still put a strong side out. AND as if Man City and L'Pool are going to put all their eggs in the European basket anywway and risk ending up with nothing.

There are no distractions for any club ffs.

They are games of football. You know, what they're paid to do.

Some of the shit you read on here is unbelievable.

Man City & Liverpool have European distractions.

Man City have a difficult away game at Chelsea tomorrow. IF they lose that and we win at Leicester then I can see us getting 4th, or at least getting close. City still have to play Arsenal as well.

Main concern though is that we avenge Wednesday night on the 10th May... we can't lose that one!

And if Man U win the FA cup, does that push it down to 7th?

I mean I don't like European cup football at all and don't set high targets for us, but fuck me there are some miserable doom mongers on here and I still want the best for the club.

It's as if no one has ever seen us lose a cup game before, as now the nooses are hanging everywhere.

My feet are grounded and other than the odd moment of proud madness, I know our team isn't amazing or as good as the likes of Spurs (many on here reckon our players are better), but the progress we've made in one season has been superb and the foundations are well in place now to push on, so let's still dream a little eh.

May seem a weak Man Utd team, but it cost about 200 million to put together so no disgrace to lose to them, even though it was because we underperformed.

I've just got this horrible feeling that the very early season start, the cup run with replays, and a relatively small squad is going to catch up with us over these last handful of games. I can see us finishing 7th in all honesty.

Of course, I really hope we have got it in us for one last push.

Is 5th place CL qualifying and 6th Europa league? Or only 5th for Europa?

Re: Gung Ho for 4th place now both Mancs are distracted
Of course we should go for it but sadly after being cheated out of 3 points against Chelsea, Palace and Arsenal by the refs I think it's beyond us now. Up till last night I thought we had a good chance of beating Leicester but it looked like we were running on empty after a long season of incredible results and probably overachieving. Massively proud of all of them, Bilic and the two Daves

Absolutely not...I want us to finish 5th or above...

We will finish 6th or 7th and then get banged out of the Europa League at the early stages in July.

Hope we don't slide down the table as a backlash to last night's result...

Big test for Bilic's motivational...man management and selection abilities...
